There are more than a hundred different tribes spread over the 7100 islands of the Philippines. Each tribe has their own language, costumes, dances, recipes and stories to tell. They have been able to preserve their traditions for thousands of years. Muslim settlers, Spanish conquistadors and American commercialism have slowly but steadily chopped away on the originality of each tribe. But, it is not too late.
Tribal Planet is a call to action. Anybody can help. Most importantly of course the tribes themselves but also the government, NGOs and of course you, yeah, you. Help us to preserve those fabulous stories, the intimate knowledge of healing plants and those curious endemic traditions. And let‘s also help the tribes to fight abuse. Illegal logging, discrimination and corruption. Let‘s help them find livelihoods and renewable resources. Let them be part of a modern society with their identities and their pride intact. Tribal Planet is a forum for tribes, scientists and NGOs interact with each other, exchange ideas and introduce successful projects to the world. TP helps to raise funds for education, preserving of traditions, medical missions and livelihood projects.
